How to Incorporate Photos in your Wedding Stationery Suite
Paperia | March 2015
Photos are a lovely way to personalize elements of your wedding stationery suite.
The key is to select the highest quality photo and ensure the sizing works with the format you intend to use. For example, the best shot may be oriented as a portrait, but if the space you’re intending to use is a horizontal landscape, it simply won’t fit. So, keep this in mind when taking photos and when selecting stationery. Also, try to order a sample of the final products whenever possible to avoid any last minute surprises close to the wedding.
A Note on Professional Photography: It’s always preferred to use professional-grade, high-resolution photos. Many photographers offer “Engagement Photos” as part of their packages. If you are intending to use photos in your stationery, try to schedule this photo shoot as early in your engagement as possible. It will take some time to get the proofs through editing and ready for your use.
Save the Dates
Save the Date cards are a great place to use photos! Many of your guests will hang your Save the Date card on their refrigerator or on their office memo board in the months leading up to your wedding, so the more personal and festive you can make this important announcement, the better! Also, keep in mind that sometimes the bride and groom are inviting lesser-known acquaintances (i.e. friends or colleagues of parents) to join in the celebration. Since you may not spend a lot of time with these people on a regular basis, the photo may help remind them of the guests of honor.
Instead of a traditional guest book, frame your favorite Engagement Photo in thick matting, at least 4 inches, and display it on an easel during cocktail hour. Instruct guests to sign their names and wishes on the matting, and after the wedding, you can enclose it in glass and display it in a prominent position in your home. What a lovely reminder to see all the love and support of your closest friends and family each day!
Thank You Cards
Many couples choose to send out personalized, photo thank you cards with their favorite shot from the big day. A clever idea is to bring a sign that reads “Thank You” to the wedding and have the photographer take a shot of the couple holding it. This is the perfect shot for the cover of a folded thank you note!
