Paperia | May 2015
With wedding season upon us once again, new trends are sure to emerge–one of which will be new colors and color pairings. Choosing wedding colors is a big decision because the amount of choices are endless. If you’re looking for a little help or inspiration, consider Pantone’s 2015 color of the year: Marsala!
Marsala (Pantone 18-1438) is a rich red-brown that has a very earthy feel to it. Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director at the Pantone Color Institute, said, “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in
to its embracing warmth.” Here’s what Marsala looks like:
Because Marsala is a warm tone, it’s great against many skin tones. It would be the perfect shade for bridesmaids dresses, lipstick, or nail polish for your big day. You can also think about incorporating it into your decorations and invitations as well.
You can decide to have your main color be Marsala or use it as an accent. It pairs well with neutrals or metallic, making it a highly useable color. Here are some great pairing ideas:
Pairing it with lighter, brighter colors would be fabulous for spring or summer weddings and pairing it with warmer, darker colors would be an excellent idea for a fall or winter wedding. However you decide to use the Pantone pick of the year, you can rest assured it was chosen for a reason!
