Selecting Your Wedding Colors
Paperia | March 2015
Selecting a color palette for your wedding can be quite difficult – there are so many beautiful hues on the color wheel!
Here are some tips and trends for finalizing your color scheme in 2015.
Consider your venue.
You will want to pick shades that compliment, not compete, with your venue. For example, if your reception is in a hotel with a dark blue carpet and cherry wood fixtures, picking a bold palette with reds, oranges, or yellow may compete with the already colorful backdrop. In this circumstance, consider a more neutral palette of ivory, gold or champagne, and some shades of blue.
Use the color wheel.
The color wheel shows you what colors work well together. If you pick shades that are side by side, they are called “analogous.” When you pick shades across the wheel, they are called “complementary.” This can be a valuable tool when you have one hue you’re set on, but are struggling to round out your palette with secondary shades.
