Top Ten Tips for RSVP Cards
RSVP cards are an integral piece of any wedding invitation suite. Check out the tips below to facilitate your response-gathering efforts!
- Your RSVP card should match the style and tone of your wedding invitation suite.
- Include an addressed, stamped return envelope to make it easy for guests to reply.
- The deadline for responses should be no later than two weeks and no sooner than a month before the wedding.
- If you have not heard from an invited guest by the deadline, it is perfectly appropriate – and necessary – to call them to inquire about their plans to attend.
- Include either “M ________________” or “Name _______________” at the top of your card so that guests can write in their name(s).
- Keep a master list with each guest or couple numbered, and write that number in light pencil on the back of each guest’s RSVP card. That way, you’ll know who a blank card is from. You’d be surprised how many people forget to write in their names!
- If your invite suite is informal, using a postcard RSVP will save you money on postage.
- RSVP cards should be addressed and sent back to the event hosts (whether it be the parents of the bride or the couple themselves). However, they can be sent wherever most practical for the person keeping track of the responses.
- If your reception venue requires that you collect guests’ entree selections before the wedding, be sure you include the meal options on your RSVP card.
- Have fun with it! Many guests will write a sweet note or kind sentiment on their card. Enjoy reading these remarks as your wedding date rapidly approaches.
