Pantone Color Institute, the world’s leading authority on color, recently unveiled their choice for the 2014 color of the year – Radiant Orchid – PANTONE 18-3224.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says that “Radiant Orchid [is] an invitation to innovation… [the color] encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society. An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”
Expect the beautiful purple tone to pop up everywhere in the coming year, from runways to weddings, jewelry to cosmetics, and textiles to paint. The “charming” and “captivating” qualities of the hue will surely have boundless applications.
If you’re engaged, Radiant Orchid would make a lovely addition to a wedding color palette. Consider pairing it with gray in the winter, lemon in spring, turquoise or teal in summer, or olive in fall. Ask an invitation specialist at The Paperia to find out how to incorporate this color into your wedding stationery suite!
